Retro Park is an authentic, quiet area filled with roses and cosy alcoves. This zone brings you back to atmosphere of 50’s and 60’s with an open-air stage, dancing ground, a shed for dominoes and chess players, beautiful rotunda. The benches arranged in semicircles are inviting for friendly chat and relaxation.
Every weekend there are musical nights where you can listen to musical bits from old movies or sing along favorite songs to an accordion accompaniment. The Park’s Main Alley starts from main entrance and stretches all the way to Ferry Wheel. The length of the alley – 559 meters. There is a squirrel statue at the Park’s entrance. A squirrel is a symbol of renovated Park, you can see lots of these cute animals on trees and lawns of the Park. Even personnel uniform and direction signs bear an image of little squirrel.
The only remnant remained from old Gorky Park is a statue of Panther which literally embraces the past and the future of the Park. This statute is well remembered standing on the Main Alley by many of our friends since they were kids. There are also around 25 bronze statues, the Kharkovites became to love as well, enjoying taking pictures with. The number of these statues will expand shortly. For than 40 years an aerial cable road is being operated between the Park and Pavlovo Pole area stretching for 1387 meters. The gondolas run 8 – 26 meters above ground. The duration of one-way trip is 18 minutes.
